Xavier University is proud to offer a 2-week course in Costa Rica. This intensive field course will give you hands-on experience in tropical ecosystems and will teach you the fundamentals of tropical biology and conservation.
The course is conducted on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica, home to Corcovado National Park one of the largest virgin Pacific rainforests in Central America. We will visit an array of species diverse ecosystems including tropical rainforest, marine habitats, as well as coffee and other agricultural ecosystems. Each day will include active exploration of the region's wilderness followed by interactive evening seminars to discuss the days events as well as lectures covering various aspects of tropical ecology, natural history and conservation.
Accommodations will be at a rustic seaside research and education center located on the Osa Peninsula near the small village of Puerto Jimenez. We will stay in beach-front tent cabinas with nature all around. Monkeys visit daily at lunch-time and an occasional encounter with a curious iguana is not uncommon!
