Literacy Autobiography

Reading is something that I take for granted.  My mother and father read books to me when I was little and my Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Roberts, taught me how to read.  However, learning to read and write was a intricate process. A child cannot go from learning to write individual letter to publishing an essay.  Likewise there are many step between a child's first word and reading a novel.  School, of course, had a large impact on how I learned to read and write.  Personal and social events, such as my mother taking time to read with me and trips to the library, also shaped my literacy.  The world and the context in which I live has molded the type of literate I am today.  If there was no such thing as Sesame Street or the Internet, my reading and writing skills would have developed much differently. This website explores the different steps of my literacy adventure from childhood to high school.
